The White House
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with your oral instructions, I
attach a draft of the White House press release as
proposed by General Marshall.
General Marshall will leave China Wednesday
morning, 8 January (local China calendar), and
requests that the release be made 24 hours earlier.
This would require local Washington release about
seven p.m. Monday evening, 6 January. In the event
a leak occurs in China, General Marshall requests
an immediate Washington release with the time element
corrected accordingly.
