S E R R E T WAR DEPARTMENT WASHINGTON DECLASSIFIED 5(D) OI Sec. 3(E) and E.O. 11652. 3, 1972 OSD letter, May NLTHING NARS Date 5 January 1947 BY The President The White House Dear Mr. President: In accordance with your oral instructions, I attach a draft of the White House press release as proposed by General Marshall. General Marshall will leave China Wednesday morning, 8 January (local China calendar), and requests that the release be made 24 hours earlier. This would require local Washington release about seven p.m. Monday evening, 6 January.
