CONFIDENTIAL (48th meeting) Section on 23 July 1946 stating the War Department had looked into this matter and, because of obvious difficulty in ascertaining which Mexican officers had attended the various schools, the Mexican Section was asked to furnish the names of all officers who had attended service schools in the United States since 1941 or were attending at present, so that the work here would be somewhat facilitated. Colonel Deerwester further pointed out during discussion at this meeting, that the work involved, both in Mexico and here, might be out of proportion to the benefit gained in obtaining such informa- tion as regards students in the past; and that, as regards present students, he understood that the Foreign Liaison Branch of the War Department was furnishing such information to Mexican authorities upon completion of students' courses, although he did not know how such information was channeled. General Cabrera stated that this was not being done, and that he would appreciate having a report on each student as he completes his courses here. Colonel Deerwester is to follow this matter up with the War Department's Foreign Liaison Branch and inform General Cabrera of his findings. Colonel Deerwester took occasion to ask if the Mexican Section knew whether the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense desired the marks and other such records only for officers who had come here for training for the 201st Mexican Fighter Squadron. Colonel Chagoya stated he believed they were primarily interested in those officers who had taken courses at Fort Leavenworth, but he was not sure on this point, and General Cabrera added that he did not know exactly what the Secretariat of National Defense had in mind, but he would try to get more details as to their desires. In the meantime, Colonel Deerwester will try to ascertain status of the matter as regards present-day students. 7. TRAINING. General Henry presented a memorandum dated 1 November 1946, to the Mexican Section, giving that Section certain information on available training for pilots and enlisted men mechanics, which, though not exactly what was requested in memorandum from the Mexican Section of 24 July 1946, may meet their requirements. The subject of this memorandum is "Mexican Request for Training of Pilots and Mechanics". It is presented with the view that the Mexican Govern- ment may desire to review and revise their original request. 8. ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS, MEXICO-U.S. Admiral Jones stated he had received a recommendation from the Chief of Naval Operations which he had been requested to present to this Commission for consideration, as follows: (1) Establishment of an Advisory Committee on Communications, composed of representatives of all United States and Mexican military and naval services, to provide for a successful coordination of forces for hemispheric defense; further recommending that: CONFIDENTIAL
