(19) Lighted Whistle Buoy off
In May 1946 permission from Mexico
South Coronados Island, Mexico.
was sought to establish a lighted
whistle buoy in the vicinity of South
Coronados Island, in order to assist
in tests of a technical nature which
the United States Navy Electronic
Laboratory in San Diego desired to
undertake.
The necessary information about
this project has been given to the
Mexican Section, and reply is anti-
cipated shortly.
(20) Aircraft and Surface
The Mexican Section made a request
Vessels for Mexico.
for information concerning the avail-
ability of destroyer-escorts, certain
amphibious craft, tankers, minesweepers,
and both operational and training air-
craft.
Information and specifications of
the types requested have been for-
warded to the Mexican Section, but
no formal request has yet been placed.
IV. CHANGES IN PERSONNEL OF THE COMMISSION
DURING THIS PERIOD:
1. Vice Admiral A. W. Johnson, U. S. Navy, Retired, Chairman
and U. S. Navy Member on the United States Section, was relieved on
15 August 1945 by Vice Admiral D. W. Bagley, U. S. Navy. Admiral
Bagley was relieved from duty, pending retirement from the Navy, in
January 1946 and was succeeded by Rear Admiral R. E. Schuirmann, U. S.
Navy. The Chairmanship of the U. S. Section then evolved upon the
Senior U. S. Army Member, Major General Guy V. Henry, U. S. Army.
Rear Admiral Schuirmann was relieved in June 1946 by Rear Admiral J.
Cary Jones, U. S. Navy, as U. S. Navy Member.
2.
Major General Francisco Castillo Najera was relieved from
duty on the Commission as Chief of the Mexican Section on 7 September
1945, at which time he returned to Mexico to assume the post of Minister
of Foreign Affairs of his country. Rear Admiral Ignacio Garcia Jurado
