- 3 - It is felt that it would be best for you to return to the United States after your visit to Mexico in order to avoid the impression that you had been simply going through Mexico in transit to other countries. It is suggested that President Alemán's return visit be made sometime in April if your schedule will permit. The altitude of Mexico City is approximately 7200 feet and the weather in the daytime is warm enough to be comfortable in light-weight woolen clothing. In the evening after sunset, it is cool enough to require a light topcoat. The temperature in the coastal regions is somewhat higher and a lighter type of clothing will be comfortable. For official evening functions full dress clothing will be appropriate, and for a call upon the President a dark suit such as President Alemán habit- ually wears upon ceremonial occasions will be in order . There are many interesting trips which can be made with Mexico City as a base. Cuernavaca, about 2000 feet lower than Mexico City, is about an hour and a half drive from the capital up over the mountain range and then down. It is famous for its even climate and for its picturesque scenery. Taxco, about 100 miles from the capital in the heart of the silver mining country, is a quaint and picturesque little town which gives the impression
