THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON November 1, 1945 MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT. There is much justice in Rabbi Wise's position. I think that if the Commission's functions were limited to a determination of how many people could be absorbed into Palestine per month, that would be the only valid purpose of a Commission. All the other information, namely the number of displaced persons in Europe who wish to go to Palestine, could be ascertained immediately from records at displaced persons camps. If a time limit, say of 30 days, was imposed on any Commission appointed, it would take the sting out of the charge of stalling and delay. Son NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND S. I. R. lif
