Dear Sol:
I appreciated very much your letter of the
twentieth /In regard to the Palestine situa-
tion and the Displaced Persons problem.
I sent a special Delegation to Ensland to
negotiate 4 R the admission of 100,000 Dis-
placed Jews into Palestine. We have been
making some effort to get the British Domin-
ions and South America to admit some of these
Displaced Persons and I have also discussed
with the Immigration Committee of the House
and Senate the feasibility of using the unused
quota of Northern European nations for admis-
sion of some of the Displaced Persons to this
country. In fact we are using a part of the
quota for Germany right now to bring children
here. I hope we can get some action on this
situation very soon.
I don't know whether the time is ripe to dis-
cuss it with the United Nations or not - you
night discuss it with the other members of the
delegation and give me any suggestions that
you and they have to offer.
Sincerely yours,
