OCTOBER 4, 1948
The President today received the following telegram from
His Excellency, Dr. Chain Weizmann, President of the Provisional
Council of State, Tel Aviv:
"I am deeply grateful for your New Year's
Message on the year of the establishment of the Jewish
State. It is my great privilege to convey my cordial
greetings and thanks to you and the American people
who have done so much to help bring about the realisa-
tion of a 2000 year old dream."
