THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
June 27, 1946.
MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT:
SUBJECT:
United States Property in the Philippines.
The Philippine property bill, S. 2345, is on the
Senate calendar. The companion bill, H. R. 6801 has been
reported out in the House.
The two members of the Insular Affairs Committees
most familiar with this matter are out of the country, both
attending the Philippine independence ceremonies. The
senior member of the committee present is Congressman Gossett
of Texas.
In view of the approaching independence of the
Philippines, I feel that it would be well for you to con-
tact the Speaker or the Majority Leader of the House with
a view to having this matter receive early attention.
RICHMOND B. KEECH,
Administrative Assistant
to the President.
