MEMORANDUM TO THE PRESIDENT
Subject: American Economic Survey Mission to the Philippines.
Mr. Daniel W. Bell has accepted your appointment of him
as Chief of the American Economic Survey Mission to the Philip-
pines as your personal representative with the personal rank
of Ambassador. Major General Richard J. Marshall has also
accepted the appointment as Deputy Chief of the Mission with
personal renk of Minister. Mr. Bell proposes to leave Washington
on July 8. I am attaching for your consideration a suggested
press release on the American Economic Survey Mission to the
Philippines for your next regular press conference on Thursday.
