COPY THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON October 31, 1949 PERSONAL Dear President Weizmann: I am deeply indebted to you for an act of thoughtful generosity. That Ark which you have now sent me as a repository for the Scrolls of the Law -- an earlier gift from you -- is an artistic triumph. It is not only a superb piece of crafts- manship but it is of profound historic interest. Very impressive are those quotations from the ancient books of Exodus and Deuteronomy and the Psalms, sug- gesting as they do the ritualistic significance of both the Ark and the Scrolls. I shall always treasure this gift and feel that it will be an inspiration to all who see it. Very sincerely yours, HARRY S. TRUMAN SERVICE His Excellency Chaim Weizmann, President of Israel, Tel Aviv, Israel.
