MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT
Subject: Appointment of Arthur W. Parsons as
Acting Deputy Representative of the
United States of America on the
Special Balkan Committee of the
General Assembly of the United Nations.
During the temporary absence of the United States
Representative and Deputy Representative on the Special
Balkan Committee of the General Assembly of the United
Nations the Committee will be without representation
from the United States.
In view of the above and the advisability of having
a United States Representative at each meeting, I recom-
mend for your approval the appointment of Arthur W.
Parsons, now adviser to the United States Representative
on the Balkan Committee, to serve without additional
compensation as Acting Deputy Representative of the
United States of America on the Special Balkan Committee
of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
This appointment is in accordance with Section 2 (d)
of the United Nations Participation Act of 1945.
If this appointment meets with your approval will
you please sign the attached letter addressed to
Mr. Parsons.
