Here in Mattoon you can see for yourselves, how important the strength of organized labor is to the whole country. The railroad brotherhoods were among our early unions, and the brotherhoods have done a wonderful job in raising the incomes of all railroad workers. As railroad employees wages have gone up, naturally their purchasing power has increased. That means greater prosperity for everybody.
