Feb. 2, 1955. St. Louis, Mo.
SERVICE"
Ice and sleet so think on the streets I didn't go to the office.
Had made arrangements to come to Dr. Harold Reader's 10th anniversary
dinner at the Scottish Rite Temple on Lindall Blvd. So I stayed at the
house, went over the Washington and New York papers, yesterday's mail
and took a good morning nap from 10:15 to 11:15. Packed my brief case
with shaving case, clean shirt and a folder of reading material on the
memoirs, had lunch with Bess and started for the station. Got stuck
trying to neptiate the alley gate and had to back up and go out the north
or Truman Road gate.
The G. P. A. of the Mo. P. R.R. was down to see me off. Parked the
car behind the station and boarded the Omaha Eagle. Read papers and doc- -
uments all the way from home. Shook the hands of forty or so passengers
and signed as many autographs.
Arrived at Tower Grove Station and was met by one of my best friends,
Roy W. Harper, Federal Judge, and by Judge Aronson of the St. Louis Circuit
Court, a member of the Grand Lodge of Missouri, reporters, photographers and
