D. Status of CEA Establishments 1. Chatillon The experimental reactor, ZOE, is still running steadily at 5 kw. A small electromagnetic isotope separator has been built at Chatillon. So far, this has used a gaseous ion source, but the more difficult problem of vaporized solid sources is now being studied. The object of this equipment is to produce a few milligrams of separated stable isotopes for research. According to Francis Perrin, the CEA does not have any plans for a large- scale U-235 separation program. - 4 - SECRET/U S. OFFICIALS ONLY
