We must deduce from this that we have to be on our guard against the masked enemies of the proletarian international, that the freedom-loving nations must be faithful to the end to the Lenin-Stalin principles of internationalism, defending them as the foundation of all foundations in the fraternal cooperation among peoples. Now that the Anglo-U.S. bloc of imperialist powers has switched to a policy of open preparation for a new world war and even acts of direct aggression, alliance and friendship between the Soviet Union and Poland is of great importance in the cause of peace. We cannot close our eyes to the fact that the member states of the aggres- sive North Atlantic Pact have embarked on a frenzied arms drive and the establish- ment of an increasing number of U.S. military bases in Europe and the Near East, and that this intensifies the threat of war. The Anglo-U.S. imperialists, together with their French and other satellites, have already embarked on the militarization of West Germany and the resuscitation of Japanese militarism. They are anxious to see these hopelessly venturesome plans realized and they are not shrinking from violating international agreements. This cannot, however, conceal the growth of internal differences in the imperialist camps of various countries nor the aggravated struggle among the ruling cliques in these countries. In these conditions it is essential not only to maintain but to double the vigilance of nations in order to avert war and preserve peace. Only this represents a stable guarantee of peace. In recent years the camp of peace-loving states has considerably gained in strength. Alongside the Soviet Union, the struggle for peace is being waged by the People's Democracies and our new and powerful ally, the Chinese People's Republic. The movement of the peace partisans is expanding in capitalist countries, in the West and in the East. It was, therefore, with doubled force that the voice of the Soviet delegate made itself heard in the appeal for the cessation of military operations, for a truce, in Korea. Friendship and alliance between the Soviet Union and the people of Poland have grown stronger in recent years. The foundations of Soviet-Polish friendship laid by Stalin have grown into a fraternal alliance between the Soviet and
