Comrades, the peoples of the Soviet Union today celebrate the 34th
anniversary of the great October Revolution, illuminated by the genius of
Lenin who has opened to mankind the path to a new socialist world. Every
year of progress along this path brings new successes to our country.
All activities of the Bolshevik Party and of the Soviet Government
during the period between the 33rd and 34th anniversaries of the October
Revolution, and in all the years which have elapsed since the death of
the great Lenin, have taken place under the wise guidance of our leader,
Comrade Stalin.
With the foresight of a genius, Comrade Stalin guides the Party and
people in the most complicated events of domestic and international life,
outlining the prospects of further development. Comrade Stalin's inex-
haustible energy in his daily leadership of big as well as small affairs,
and his skill in determining the major tasks of the Soviet State and in
directing all our strength toward their solution, insures to the peoples
of the Soviet Union great victories in the building of Communism.
(applause)
Last year, 1950, was the year in which the first postwar Five-Year
Plan was completed. The Soviet people and our friends abroad learned
with delight about the successful fulfillment of the Five-Year Plan for
the restoration and development of the Soviet economy, for the realization
of which our people had to fight under the difficult conditions of healing
the heavy wounds inflicted by the war.
This is undoubtedly a new and great victory for the Soviet people,
as a result of which the might of our socialist state has increased
still more. The successes of our peaceful building have resulted in a
further rise in the workers' material and cultural standards of living.
