Weather: Favorable for flying (press report).\n2. Soviet participation: None reported.\n3. Operations: Morale South Korean Command and Staff reported\ndeclining. Koreans from President Rhee dispirited by course of hos-\ntilities and lack of concrete evidence of U.S. aid. Loss of South Korean\npersonnel estimated at 40 percent. Of remaining 60 percent, about 80\npercent still have individual weapons. There are indications that the\nSouth Koreans have no artillery south of Han River. All elements of\nSouth Korean forces are believed to be south of Han River except ele-\nments between Seoul and Munson. Reportedly there is no system for\ndistribution of supplies in the South Korean Army at present. (G-2)\nSeoul, Kapyong and Chunchon are in the hands of the North Koreans.\nLandings of 5,000 North Koreans have been reported in the Chunjin-\nKangnung area, with heavist landings in the vicinity of the Muke Naval\nBase and north of Pohang. (G-2)\nLate press reports state that Korean armor has cross Han River\n18 miles west of Seoul and that S. Korean forces at Hupyong are falling\nback.\nNAVY\nThe U.S. Carrier VALLEY FORGE is operating in the Formosa\narea.\nJUNEAU (CLAA) is reconnoitering east coast Korea and scheduled\nto bombard Kangnung-Samchok area on 29th. MANSFIELD (DD), DE\nHAVEN (DD) are operating east coast Korea.
