1. Weather:
Scattered low clouds based at 3,000 feet in the early morning becoming
broken in the afternoon with rain showers in mountain areas. Visibility 10
miles except in rain showers. Forecast: Scattered low clouds with bases
2,000 tops 8,000 feet throughout period, with scattered rain showers and thunder-
storms in central mountain sections in the afternoon® Visibility unrestricted

3. Operations:
ENEMY SITUATION
a. Kwangju was captured by what is believed to be an armor supported
regiment of the 4th North Korean division The enemy is reported in the
vicinity of Namwon in unknown strength. An enemy battalion is reported at
Chinan. The enemy reportedly is moving reinforcements from Chulpo to
Chongup, (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. The 3d North Korean Division's pressure along the Taejon-Yongdong
axis continued as elements of the division attempted crossings of the Kum River
in vicinity of Chitan and to the southeast. The enemy in company strength is
reportedly infiltrating into the Yongdong- - Myon area. An estimated 10,000
enemy troops, possibly of the 6th North Korean Division, reportedly are mass-
ing west of Taejon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
C. Guerrillas are active in the vicinity of Muju. (FECOM) (SECRET)
