Weather: Central and North Korea fair. Southern Korea and Kyushu had considerable cloudiness, rain and restricted visibilities from the tropical storm off Kyushu. Forecast: Generally unchanged. 2. Soviet Participation: Negative. 3. Operations: ENEMY SITUATION a. Elements of the 4th North Korean Division repulsed a friendly attack in the vicinity of Hadong, then counterattacked and forced friendly troops to withdraw to a position in the vicinity of Chinju. North Korean forces, estimated to be a regiment supported by an artillery battalion, are in position four miles northeast of Hadong, and also occupy Yosu. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. The enemy advance has cut off two U.S. Infantry companies in the vicinity of Anui. A strong enemy road block has been established in the vicinity of Sanwon. (FECOM)(SECRET) Co The 2d and 3d North Korean Divisions exerted steady pressure in the Taejon-Kumchon area, making slight gains in the vicinity of Hwang- gan. The 25th U.S. Division is reported to be under a heavy attack, which is supported by artillery and tanks. An estimated 200 enemy troops have infiltrated into friendly positions in the vicinity of Kwan, The enemy con tinues his build-up of personnel and equipment in the Yongdong=Chongsan area.
