Weather:\nCentral and North Korea fair. Southern Korea and Kyushu had\nconsiderable cloudiness, rain and restricted visibilities from the tropical\nstorm off Kyushu. Forecast: Generally unchanged.\n2. Soviet Participation:\nNegative.\n3. Operations:\nENEMY SITUATION\na. Elements of the 4th North Korean Division repulsed a friendly\nattack in the vicinity of Hadong, then counterattacked and forced friendly\ntroops to withdraw to a position in the vicinity of Chinju. North Korean\nforces, estimated to be a regiment supported by an artillery battalion, are\nin position four miles northeast of Hadong, and also occupy Yosu. (FECOM)\n(SECRET)\nb. The enemy advance has cut off two U.S. Infantry companies in\nthe vicinity of Anui. A strong enemy road block has been established in\nthe vicinity of Sanwon. (FECOM)(SECRET)\nCo The 2d and 3d North Korean Divisions exerted steady pressure\nin the Taejon-Kumchon area, making slight gains in the vicinity of Hwang-\ngan. The 25th U.S. Division is reported to be under a heavy attack, which\nis supported by artillery and tanks. An estimated 200 enemy troops have\ninfiltrated into friendly positions in the vicinity of Kwan, The enemy con\ntinues his build-up of personnel and equipment in the Yongdong=Chongsan\narea.
