1. Weather:
Broken to overcast low clouds south of the 38th parallel, scattered
to broken north. Visibility unrestricted except in occasional light rain and
fog along the south and east coastal areas. Forecast: Scattered to broken
at 3,000 feet over all Korea except broken to overcast at 1,500 feet along
the coasts. Visibility unrestricted except in rain and fog on the south and
southwest coasts, (FEAF) (SECRET)

3. Operations:
ENEMY SITUATION
a. In the vicinity of Hadong camouflaged vehicles, supplies, and
an undetermined number of enemy troops were observed. An undetermined
number of enemy troops supported by light artillery and one tank attacked
elements of the 19th U.S. Regiment 5 miles southwest of Chinju. (FECOM)
(SECRET)
b. North Korean regiments are located in Sunchon and in Posong,
27 miles south of Kwangju. (FECOM) (SECRET)
Co An unidentified regiment moved to the Namwon-Hamyang area
to support North Korean troops already in that sector. (FECOM) (SECRET)
d. On 29 July, elements of a North Korean division attacked the
34th U.S. RCT 7 miles south of Kochang At 1330/30 (KT) elements of the
34th U.S. RCT in position 8 miles northwest of Hyopchon received fire from
their rear areas, (FECOM) (SECRET)
e. North Korean troops assembled in Chirye, 12 miles south of
Kumchon, have been identified as part of the 3d North Korean Division.
These troops oppose elements of the 5th U.S. Regiment north of Chirye,
