1. Weather:
North Korea clear; scattered late afternoon showers in central
and south Korea. Forecast: Unchanged.
2. Soviet Participation:
Negative.
3. Operations:
ENEMY SITUATION
a. Six miles southeast of Chinju, elements of the 6th North Korean
Division attacked friendly positions in the vicinity of Sangmun. At 1700/01
(KT) 300 enemy troops were observed 8 to 10 miles southeast of Sangmun.

b. After capturing Hyopchon, units of the 4th North Korean Divi-
sion advanced 4 miles northeast of that city. (FECOM) (SECRET)
c. A 4th North Korean Division regiment with an artillery battery
in support engaged the 34th Infantry Regiment in the vicinity of Kwonbin, 7
miles northwest of Hyopchon. Six miles northeast of Kwonbin, an unidenti-
fied enemy unit applied pressure from the north against the 17th ROK Regi-

d. Enemy vehicles were reported moving south between Iri and
Chonju and between Chonju and Namwon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
e. The 3d North Korean Division continued to exert pressure on
the 1st Cavalry Division front. In the vicinity of Kumchon, a North Korean
build-up was developing on the right flank of United States positions. (FECOM)

f. West of Sangju the 15th North Korean Division reorganized and
consolidated its gains. (FECOM) (SECRET)
