Division units continue aggressive patrol action. Artillery fire in support of the ROK attack was furnished. Elements of the 7th Cavalry RCT engaged the enemy in a short fire fight 11 miles southwest of Taegu. The 5th Cavalry RCT was engaged in reducing an enemy penetration 5 miles east of Waegwan. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. 2d U.S. Infantry Division: The 3d battalion, 9th RCT, remains in Kyongsan as EUSAK reserve. The remainder of the 9th RCT was attached to the 24th U.S. Infantry Division. The 23d RCT remains at Wondong as EUSAK reserve. (FECOM) (SECRET) c. 24th U.S. Infantry Division: The 1st battalion, 9th RCT, was committed in the 34th RCT sector. The balance of the 9th RCT (less 3d battalion) arrived in the vicinity of Changnyong. The 19th and 34th RCTs continued to engage the enemy pocket 6 miles west of Yongsan. Task Force Perry has been relieved of its mission to support the 3d ROK Divi- sion and will move to Chongdo and revert to 24th Division control. (FECOM) (SECRET) d. Task Force Kean: The Task Force renewed the attack to secure the high ground east and southeast of Chinju. The 24th RCT is in the vicinity of Haman. The 35th RCT continued its advance to the west with leading elements reaching Sagong, 12 miles due east of Chinju.
