B--I think he would, Pritch. I think we could talk to him and
get somewhere.
P--Well, look you and err 'course, how close are they tied
to HOWARD?
B--Not too much.
P--I'm getting worried about HOWARD (Phon.).
B--Yeah, I am too. I think some of his tactics are not too
good. I think he's a good tough operator.
P--Yeah, but they're letting him run the BOARD.
B--Yeah, that's quite true. Well, I think we ought to sit down
with HELLER some time. I'm perfectly willing to talk
with HELLER. I think he's a pretty open-minded fellow.
P--I think we ought to talk to him too. I think that maybe you
and
B--No, as a matter of fact, Pritch, it was HURLEY that told me,
er, that told HAROLD about STURGESS (Phon.).
P--Well, we can talk to him.
B--Yeah, and it was HELLER that told me today.
P--Well, we can talk to both of them. Because look, I think the
thing is this: I'm glad that they're getting moving, and
I think that STURGESS was too much of a break; on the other
hand, I think they are going to give the show away now.
B--Yeah, we don't want them to run wild. The most important
thing, of course, is to get a General Counsel that really
knows how to move. Now in these agencies there were a
hell of a lot of awfully good guys.
P--Well, this GEORGE BALL (Phon.) is as good a man as I know
anywhere.
B--To hell, GEORGE is in town?
P--GEORGE is here in town.
B--Then let's go to town on that. Do you think they may want
to wait now until "what's his name" comes in.
P--Who?
B--SYMINGTON.
P--No, if they'll offer it to BALL, I'll undertake to clear
it, to see SYMINGTON and get his consent.
B--Yeah. You never met him though, did you?
P--Who?
B--SYMINGTON.
P--No, but the JUDGE knows him and I'll get the JUDGE to talk
to him.
B--Yeah, well let's go to town on him.
P--Yeah, well I mean really bear down on them. I mean if they
really get a good man in there I'll feel like going to
bat for him, but until they do that, I just can't in good
conscience say that STURGESS (Phon.) is altogether wrong.
B--Well, the only thing is the guy
P--He's a fool to tell them he leaked.
