3 - B--Jesus-christ, it's all right to tell them what you think of them, which is good, I admire him for it, but jesus to tell them that, and after say I've gone and told DREW PEARSON, is short of crazy. so I don't know, I think you're right. DOWNEY wanted me to go and have lunch with him and HELLER. DOWNEY apparently had something to do with it. P--With what? B--With HELLER'S coming on. P--Oh yeah, that's right. B--So I already told DOWNEY I would sometime, but I'm already having lunch with DOWNEY and PEPPER tomorrow. P--Oh, good. B--Yeah. So I'm going to wait until after that, but I want to sit down with HELLER. I think you're right we ought to go to town. P--I think you ought to talk pretty frankly with DOWNEY and PEPPER, as to just what the situation is. B--Yeah, well I don't know. DOWNEY didn't have too much respect for GILLETTE. P--No, neither did I. B--No, well that's good, of course the old P--No, well I'd explain to them that on the one hand you had GILLETTE and STURGESS who didn't want to do anything, and on the other hand you had these fellows who are just letting HOWELLS' (Phon.) run wild. And they've got to get this ARMY crowd out over there. B--Yeah, I think that's bad. Well, Pritch, how long is this speech of yours tomorrow? P--Oh, about 20 minutes. But I'm not going to write any speech. B--(Outlines intended speech.) P--That's right. B--That would be the theme I'd follow. P--Good, thank you, sir. B--Look, er, DOWNS (Phon.) is back isn't he, RUSSELL? P--Yeah. B--Where in the hell has he been, down in North Carolina? P--Yeah. B--What do you think of JIMMIE going to the BIG THREE meeting? P--Well, I don't know. B--I'm inclined to think he's going to be secretary. P--I'm inclined to think so too; there are other reasons why I think so. B--Did you hear that there are rumors around town of setting up a War Control Agency? P--A what? B--A War Control Agency; somebody called me up today and said there was talk going around about it; it was going to over Mr. JIMMIE BYRNES head of it. Well, I said I never heard of it, and I said as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't
