CO SUMMARY Washington, D. C. July 6, 1945 8:25am Senator (BENNETT) CLARK talked with CORCORAN. TC-Hello. BC--Hello, Tommy. I talked to WORTH, and he said that he had called BROWNELL and that BROWNELL was preparing a memor- andum which he was going to call your office about half- past ten and dictate. So WORTH said that it was his opinion and it's mine that there was no use in us fooling around and getting together until we get that. TC--O.K. BC--I'11 be in touch with you, Tom. TC--Let's make it right after lunch. BC--All right. TC--O.K. 8:35am CORCORAN talked with JOSH LEE. L--Who will be on the Supreme Court. C--That I just don't know, Josh. L--I'll make a guess. C--Who? L--SHAY MINTON (Phon.). C--Well, that would be a grand thing. L--Wouldn't that be wonderful? C--The reason that I hesitate, Josh, is that--you know there'll be a great hue and cry that it's about time a Republican was put on the Court. L--AW, phooey on that! C--And that's the but SHAY would be grand. L--Aw, let's put TOM CORCORAN on there. C--Aw, I don't think he's a good Democrat. (Laughter) L--Yeah, he'd fit that place for a Republican--he'd satisfy the Republicans, wouldn't he? C--That's right. L--Did you see that dirty thing in the "TIMES-HERALD", trying to connect ELLIOTT ROOSEVELT with the CAB's North Atlantic Case, giving it to TWA? C--No. L--It was in the "TIMES-HERALD"--- C--When was that--this morning? L--Yeah. Congressman-from-Michigan SHAFER said that he thought that it ought to be investigated--the whole thing--because ELLIOTT ROOSEVELT was quite a friend of HOWARD HUGHES and HOWARD HUGHES owned TWA, and therefore that--something--. C--Well, that would be PAN-AM. L--Of course it would be-whipping that up--to think of that dirty thing. the dirty smear.
