3:25 PM TOM CORCORAN to D. WORTH CLARK continued. CLARK (Continued): and very vehemently said: 'I want to give you some unsolicited advise. So there's more to this whole thing than meets the eye. They're just busy again. Now here's one thing I think ought to be done. And I'll arrange for it. I think you ought to get ahold of HENRY (GRUENWALD) and get whatever connection he's got in Memphis, Tennessee to get us a case history on this fellow JASSPON. I've got reason to believe that he is the whole nigger in this woodpile. As you know PROCTOR & GAMBLE have that big plant there. Now I've got OLMSTEAD at work on the damn thing. You may trust him or distrust him. We've had all that out. But in any event, he happens to be right in this instance and this poker thing was very definitely goin' (or gone) into hearings. I've just had all the testimony read to me. And even old JUDGE TARVER in whom I have no confidence completely exonerated him. Now, first, I want to get the report. Now I can get it myself-- I don't want you to break your pick--from TOM CLARK (Attorney General) that the FBI have just turned in, ah, to the Attorney General, and they've turned it in since BIDDLE quit, on this whole damn thing in which they give OLMSTEAD an absolutely complete bill of health. Now, I don't want to mix OLMSTEAD up in this, because I know of ANDERSON's grudges, but I want to get it so I'll have it. I'll just call TOM (CLARK) myself and that'll keep you out of it. I know him slightly enough to where I won't be breaking any picks and just tell him I'd like to get it if possible. Now they haven't turned that damn thing over to agriculture at all. CLINT hasn't even seen this FBI report and it's the most exhaustive thing that's been made. Now, secondly, I would like very much if HENRY (GRUNEWALD) can get somebody out there to go to work on this fellow JASSPON. P & G have their plant in Memphis which was built by CHIP ROBERTS (phonetic) as you know. And-- it was built by CHIP ROBERTS for various reasons which I can't prove right now but which, ah, I think I know about. And JASSPON has been doing business---he in the fats and oils business out there---he's got a lot of little crushing plants and he sells every god damned bit of his stuff, so I'm advised, to PROCTOR & GAMBLE at their plant in Memphis. And that's just good business because, what the hell, they got a plant there and he'd have to ship to St. Louis and so forth to get to LEVERS (LEVER BROTHERS) and so it's damn good business. And if I can get a check on him, then what I think I'll do is just try, to just make a personal issue out of this with ANDERSON before he does. Now, JASSPON's going up there and they've got the whole P & G lobby in there again and, JIM, that just bears out what you said about JEFF WOOD being up there and buying these presents and so forth and it---and that's why, that is one reason why ANDERSON was very definitely prejudiced and that is one reason why he appeared to know so much about a situation that he could not possibly have known that much about and when he started to argue with us, and wrong of course, on most of his stuff. I mean, he had, he got it on the fly, he got it from JASSPON I'm perfectly convinced. I don't think there is any question about it and I think he called JASSPON automatically and
