they claim and insist that he mentioned it only incidentally,
etc. of course, I say that even though it's incidental
it's confirmation of the claims that these people have
made that there was a Washington contact, also that you
were it, etc., all of which we have denied. I don't know.
We might be able to worry that damned Post on the ground
that if these damned articles offer aid and comfort to these
people in this law suit we'll expect to have a suit over
against them for any damages suffered. (Believed to refer
to sale of radio station WMCA "under pressure" 2-10-44)
C--Yeah.
W--Which is probably the basis on which to put it. But I don't
think there's any point in being unfriendly yet.
C--Yeah.
W--I'd let it go a step further.
C--Yeah. Well, I'd keep watching it though.

Mr. McCASHEN to NASON asking if he had read the book. NASON said

not asking for anything and we are.' " They agree that CLARK,
CORCORAN, and JIM BRENNAN will have a 3-way conversation later
about the matter.
11:16am CORCORAN and JIM BRENNAN to D. WORTH CLARK. CLARK said he'd
talked with BROWNELL (Phon.) who said he had done business with
JASSPON (Phon.) for 25 years and further that JASSPON didn't
do business with anyone else (other than P & G?). BROWNELL,
said CLARK, would find out "how close he is to them." CLARK
suggested he tell CLINTON ANDERSON all about JASSPON and TOM
CORCORAN agreed. CORCORAN again reiterated the necessity of
immediately seeing ANDERSON and not letting "the ball play us"
as it has been "up to now." BRENNAN said he felt it was a good
idea to follow up on it. BRENNAN said, "I told WORTH this
morning that the DIAMONDS are very good friends of the FORTAS'
(Interior Department) and that DIAMOND and ABE went to Yale to-
gether." WORTH said he was considering "KILLIAN might be able
