CO SUMMARY Washington, D. C. July 10, 1945 2:55 PM Congressman ED HART from Jersey City to CORCORAN. The following conversation took place: C - I want to tell you that I found exactly the right messenger who went over on the boat with the President the other night to take that message to that fellow for whom FRANK wanted his boy to go with. H - Yeah. C - Now it's gone as high as it can go. That fellow's over there and if it can be done at all this is the way to do it. I just wanted you to be able to report back that you'd put machinery in motion of the very highest kind. H - Fine. C - The messenger who carried it is BEN (BEN COHEN, State Department ?), and he's taken it over to BOB, and I think the chances are 90-10 that we'll pull it off. H - Fine. C - The other thing I wanted to tell you is--you and I had a friend named EUGENE. H - Yeah. C - He spilled his guts to a newspaper man about his dealings with you and with me and everybody in connection with that radio thing (sale of radio station WMCA in New York) and there are some articles which have been bought by the Saturday Evening Post that he may have thrown your name into. They haven't been scheduled but are there. You ought to watch them for your own name because I think he talked too goddamned much. H - Well he always did that. C - Well, he blew his mouth off in this case in a very foolish way because the author talked all around before he put them in these articles. They're scheduled down in the Saturday Evening Post. I've told JIM McGRANERY about them, I thought you ought to know. H - Yeah. Thanks, TOM. C - But the thing I really wanted you to know is you can report to FRANK that every goddamned thing in the world has been pulled on this thing and I think it will come off. H - Fine. I'm very much obliged, TOM. 3:30 PM CORCORAN to Congressman CHARLES A. HALLECK. CORCORAN said that the schedule got confused for his brother (DAVE CORCORAN) the other day and he didn't get back to see HALLECK, but that he and his brother did a lot of talking and that his brother thinks he has an idea on how to really help you on that Mexican thing. It will involve putting the people that he's found in Mexico that really know how to do an operation like this into the initial operation of selling the heavy stuff which will break you in and also give the best advice possible on how to break in on the second line of stuff. He told me he'd go back and try to bring one of his own men up across the border where he could talk to him freely by telephone from Texas and try to straighten the thing out and it might take him a couple of days. But he knows how
