- 2 - of the individuals through whom CORCORAN dealt in obtaining of- fice space for ARNOLD) CORCORAN said he told EDDIE that THURMAN had moved in. ARNOLD said that he is "getting DEXTER KEESER (Phon. ) to go and see NELSON. He knows him very well." CORCORAN asked who NELSON is and THURMAN said, "He's some kind of a manag- ing editor on the Post." CORCORAN said, "Now, of course, you're doing it in your name and not mine." ARNOLD said, "Oh, I'm not mentioning you at all," and said that he was leaving CORCORAN out of it entirely. ARNOLD said, "All I'm saying is that STERLING (or SERLING - Phon.) Products case without even mentioning your name." 10:30am DR. (RAJCHMAN, UNRRA ?) to NASON asking if there was any news. NASON said he noticed that "our friend is still there" and that "WHITEY" (WILHAUER, Assistant Administrator of F.E.A. ?) is leaving China the end of this month to go to Manilla and is ex- pected back here around the middle of August." DR. (RAJCHMAN ?) said, "Well, I saw Mrs. MILLER (wife of ROBERT TALBOT MILLER, office of Near Eastern Affairs, State Department ?), and I have some little doubts, you know. And I thought that in any case it can better be put off as far as she's concerned until my eventual return. Because, you see, too many, if I may say so, complex factors. She lived in Russia for 3 years and her husband is you know what he is NASON said yes. DR. (RAJCHMAN ?) said, "And all that. I don't say that that excludes, you see, but in any case I think it would be a mistake to start the office with her, and explained it to her quite frankly and she under- stood it pretty well." DR. (RAJCHMAN ?) said, "So I'm still dry and high." The doctor said, "I wanted to ask you another question. The UNRRA delegation is leaving by a semi-special plane because there is a plane following them apparently, but there will be other passengers." (At this point the DR. and NASON were dis- connected) 10:33am Mrs. BEHAN to CORCORAN in a barber shop telling him that "KATE FOLEY'S boss (JAMES FORRESTAL, Secretary of Navy) wants you to call him on his private wire which is NAtional 1279. O.K. CORCORAN will call. 10:38am Mr. McCASHEN to JACK NASON. McCASHEN said that the books came in this morning; that he is going out now on an appointment but will be back at the hotel after 2 P.M. in case NASON wants to contact him. He told NASON that CHEN (Phon.) didn't get in yes- terday, and NASON told him to go ahead and work through CHEN. 10:39am CORCORAN to Mrs. BEHAN telling her he's talking from EXecutive 9331; that he has called NAtional 1279 (Secretary FORRESTAL's private line) but can't get an answer. Mrs. BEHAN will see what the trouble is.
