And so they--the whole problem--of course,\nthe boy's young, he's only 31.\nCORCORAN: But he's been in four years and he had something like 28\nmonths across, didn't he, in the South Pacific?\nCLARK:\nYeah. He's over there in the JAG office. I can get GADGE\n(phonetic), I think, to say that he doesn't need him. In\nfact I know I can.\nCORCORAN:\nI really think in the long pull he's worth a little attention\nfor the reason I talked to you about it.\nCLARK:\nWell, I'll call STRUV back and see what the score is.\nCORCORAN: I'll tell you what you do. Why don't you, until I come down\ntomorrow, hold it and I'll try and turn up some more stuff\nto help you.\nCLARK:\nMight be that we could get him put in civilians and just sent\nover here.\nCORCORAN: I thought that if JOHN (SONNETT?) came you might yank him out\nthrough JOHN and bring him with JOHN and then detach him where\nyou want to detach him.\nCLARK:\nThat would be fine. I'm anxious for JOHN to get over here as\nsoon as he can.\nCORCORAN: Yeah. Well let me know--I'll drop down about half past two\ntomorrow.\nCLARK:\nI'll see you, boy.\n2:47 PM\nCORCORAN to DR. LUDWIK RAJCHMAN to ask if everything is all set for his\ntrip. DR. RAJCHMAN replied in the affirmative, and CORCORAN told him that\nif his wife wanted anything to have her contact CORCORAN. DR. RAJCHMAN\nsaid he'd be back the end of August or first of September. CORCORAN wished\nhim a good trip.\n3:48 PM\nHAROLD ICKES, Secretary of the Interior, to CORCORAN. The following is\ntheir conversation:\nI - That name that I tried to think of--that chap in Puerto Rico who\nwants to be governor?\nC - Yes.\nI - DICK DURHAM (phonetic).\nC - Oh, you know who he is?\nI - Well, who is he?\nC - Why, I'm pretty sure that's the fellow who's been the little assistant\naround the National Committee for a long, long time.\nI - That's right.\nC - He finally married CHARLIE MICHELSON'S little girl--not his daughter--\nbut \"CHUBBY.\"\nI - I thought he married- (REX) TUGWELL (Governor of Puerto Rico) told me\nhe married the daughter of a fellow who has big sugar interests.\nC - Well, that may be true. I may be wrong. I mean--I know there was\nconsiderable trouble between the two men over this girl.\nI - Oh, I know he was over there.\nC - Yes. I--do you want to get a line on him?\nI - No. I just thought you might want to have that information."
