Washington, D. C. CO SUMMARY July 20, 1945 2:55 PM CORCORAN to MISS MURPHY in Admiral McINTYRE's office, Navy Department. CORCORAN said he had advised MRS. CURLEY (phonetic) to forget about trying to change her husband's sea duty routine right now, and that he didn't think she would hear anything more about the matter. CORCORAN said his partner, YOUNGMAN, has a brother-in-law named LT. ROBERT F. PERKINS, who is seeking a discharge from the Navy for disability, and that his case had been in the hands of the Joint Survey Board for two weeks. CORCORAN requested an estimate on how much longer it would take the Board for action. CORCORAN explained this was a personal problem and for her not to take any action, but just give him an estimate. She will call him back later. 3:00 PM H. C. CHIANG (phonetic) to JACK NASON. CHIANG said, "A short message for CHENNAULT (phonetic), you know, which (JIM) BRENNAN sent out, is it from TRUMBLE?" NASON said that is correct. 3:05 PM Mrs. ARCHIBALD to CORCORAN. CORCORAN said he talked "with your Mr. SALLETT (phonetic) up in New York about a month ago through your courtesy Has he gone back to Chungking yet and when will he return?" Mrs. ARCHIBALD said he had gone indefinitely. She said Mr. BOND (phonetic) would come back before SALLETT (phonetic) does. O.K. 3:16 PM Secretary HAROLD ICKES, Department of Interior, to CORCORAN. The following conversation took place: I - Hello, Mr. CORCORAN. C - How are you sir? I - I'm all right. You heard about the interview between (BOB) HANNEGAN and PHIL MURRAY? C - Ah, you told me something about it the other day. I - Yeah. Well, from the reports I get, HANNEGAN is 'fit to be tied'. He's terribly excited and he's talking too damn much. C - Over the interview? I - Well, he talked too much at the interview. C - I thought so too. I - And of course PHIL repeats everything. C - Yeah. I - No reason why he shouldn't. C - Yeah. Are you going to be in tomorrow morning? I - No. C - You gonna be in this afternoon? I - Yeah. C - May I drop over? I - Yeah. C - All right, sir - I'll come. 3:25 PM CORCORAN to JULIUS HOLMES at State Department, who is busy. HOLMES will call later.
