I'm getting more worried about things.\nI see them from a political standpoint and you see them from\nan economic standpoint. I want to get out of here next\nweek and go to Mayo's for a month, to get my weight off and\nget my sinus cleared up, and make sure I'm in shape. Then\nI'm going to form the CRAVATH and HENDERSON of Washington,\nand try to get three floors from you if I can get them, and\ngo to work. And if anybody gets those three floors over\nthe Treasure Island Building, across from where you and I\nlived, before I get them from you-- I shall never forgive\nyou.\nH--You don't need to worry about that. Tom, what's EMIL (SCHRAM ?)\ndoing?\nC--Sitting around picking daisys hoping for some kind of immacu-\nlate conception that will resolve his dilemna.\nH--Tom, I think that it's more in it than that. I talked to a\nguy the other day who knows and he said EMIL plans to come\nto Washington and set up an office of some kind.\nC--You mean for the Exchange?\nH--No, for himself.\nC--I don't believe that. I've heard that about everybody. I\nhear LEO CROWLEY was going to practice law and EMIL was\ngoing to practice promotion and everything else.\nH--He's approached SAM H. HUSBAND (RFC) about being his represent-\native someplace else around. I don't know where.\nC--What's he going to be, a promoter?\nH--A high pressured lobbyist I suppose. Don't ask me. I wasn't\nin a position to ask questions, but that's what SAM told\nme.\nC--He's willing to give up his contract then?\nH--He said that JOHN has offered him the job as Federal Loan Ad-\nministrator.\nC--You mean EMIL?\nH--No! SAM. Nothing could be worse.\nC--Well, you know what the Federal Loan Administrator is going\nto be. He's going to be fundamentally lending to Europe,\nand nothing to do with the RFC.\nH--Well, nothing could be worse. SAM I mean. Absolutely the\nworse thing that could happen- except JESSE (JONES ?).\nC--Has JOHN offered the job to him?\nH--That's what SAM told me. JOHN told me he was thinking about\nJOHN D. GOODLOE (RFC). That would be a good -- JOHN's all\nright.\nC--When you're lending to Europe you've got to have a name.\nH--Well, HUSBAND hasn't any.\nC--Well, he was a Director.\nH--Nuts to that, that's a lot of crap. That's the worst possible\nthing."
