Washington, D. C. CO SUMMARY September 11, 1945 5:35 PM CORCORAN to BARRETT PRETTYMAN. CORCORAN said he has a friend going into the firm of BARBER, GARNETT, PICKETT, KIETH and GLASSY, and CORCORAN wanted to know what kind of a firm it is. PRETTYMAN said it is a firm of high class small town lawyers; that CHRIS GARNETT is the brother of LESLIE GARNETT, who used to be U. S. District Attorney. PRETTYMAN said he would find out something more about them and let CORCORAN know. PRETTYMAN then asked CORCORAN if he knows anyone who could talk to DAN TOBIN, Teamsters Union, about giving money for Georgetown Hospital. CORCORAN will think it over and advise PRETTYMAN. 6:45 PM CORCORAN to JAMES MARKHAM (Alien Property Division, Department of Justice) that he is sending $5,000 in LEAHY's name. That is perfect with MARKHAM. CORCORAN reminds him to remember that he CORCORAN came through for him. O.K. 8:40 PM CORCORAN to DR. T. V. SOONG to tell him he just talked to (LEO) CROWLEY and (FRED) VINSON "will be at the meeting and has changed his mind in our favor. O.K. 9:00 PM BILL (ADMIRAL WILLIAM D. ?) LEAHY to CORCORAN. LEAHY thanks him for the contribution in his name. (KIEHN case ?). CORCORAN says at last he has JOSH LEE and the other fellows off his neck. They will lunch together Friday. 10:30 PM CORCORAN to CHARLES MURCHISON (Carlton Hotel) and asks him why the P.C.A. costs are so high in the report. MURCHISON says it is because of "short hops." MURCHISON says that he has been reading the opinion in the case and that it is inconsistent in many places. They discuss the P.C.A. case more fully. CORCORAN says, "The next thing to do is to get the boy in Moscow (Senator CLAUDE PEPPER) in." CORCORAN says, "Incidentally I wish you would pick me up on the advances I made in that picture, you know, I will talk with you about it but not over the phone." MURCHISON says O.K. TOM.
