PR SUMMARY
September 23, 1945
12:10 PM
AL DAVIS to EDWARD PRICHARD. DAVIS said that he tried to get PRICH
yesterday. AL said he wanted to tell PRICH that at the meeting of the
Financial Committee he should invite the congressional fellows."
PRICH said not necessary. PRICH asked what JOE and PAT had to say.
AL said that PAT would propose him. In response to PRICH'S query,
AL said that JOE thought the WAGNER-MURDOCK thing was O.K. PRICH
will call (ISIDOR) LUBIN and the other fellow tomorrow for AL. PRICH
said that BEN (COHEN) was not back yet--that his plane--the President's--
hadn't arrived in England yet--but they should be back Monday or Tuesday.
PRICH had lunch with DON RUSSELL (State Department) yesterday and they
went by to see DEAN (ACHESON). DEAN is fine and is answering (Senator)
WHERRY. AL will get in touch with PRICH towards the middle or last of
next week.
7:45 PM
Unidentified Man to PRICHARD. They discuss girls and man said he had
just been to a cocktail party where there were a lot of young ones who
were "nice." Man says that PAT (apparently a newspaper man with whom
PRICHARD has often corresponded) told him that the CIO was ready to
dump HARRY BRIDGES but that the Communists in the Union would not
permit such action. PRICHARD said that was to his mind only a rumor.
They discuss a fight in which HARRY BRIDGES was a participant and in
which he apparently became involved with a girl of whom Man said was
"connected with BARNEY BARUCH" or "was his girl. 11 PRICHARD said that
PAT should talk about that when he himself was the "man who used to
sleep with HELEN FULLER. Man did not believe that.
