11:05 AM JOE PANUCH to TOM CORCORAN (continued) him how it was fixed and he said he took it up to the top side to the President's Aide. I told him he could not get anything that way. I do not want GEORGE to get the idea that he can talk to VAUGHAN and get a favor which we have been working on for six months." TOM said, "What is your own situation?" JOE says it is developing all right and he is going "over there". 11:10 AM Mrs. BEHAN to Miss LIBEL in Ben COHEN's office asking where PRICHARD is. She says he is staying with JOE ALSOP. BEHAN said she will try to find ALSOP's address through Chinese Defense Supply. 11:31 AM GAEL SULLIVAN to TOM CORCORAN. SULLIVAN says he made contact with the White House but the party to whom he wanted to talk had gone to New York. SULLIVAN however is going to have lunch with that party today and says, "I may have that information for you definite by tonight." TOM said that ED FOLEY is with him now, asked if SULLIVAN is having lunch with BOB (HANNEGAN?) today. Yes. SULLIVAN says, "He (HANNEGAN) wants to talk wit me about something else and, it will be a good opportunity for me to get this in." TOM said he wants to move right in on it and SULLIVAN assured him there would be no trouble about it because when he last dropped it to BOB he was receptive. (re ED FOLEY for President of Export-Import Bank) FOLEY then said, "SULLIVAN, I kicked in about $2500 in the last campaign. I do not know whether he knows that or not." SULLIVAN said, "Well, he better know it," and FOLEY said, "You would be the one to say it. I did not give it all in the same place. I also gave to him but I gave the Senate $500 and I spent it around. But it added up to $2500." TOM asked SULLIVAN if he is trying to reach MATT (CONNELLY) at the White House and SULLIVAN said yes. SULLIVAN said he would keep FOLEY posted. CORCORAN said (as aside) "Wait until I get Kentucky." (for Prichard?) 12:55 PM ED FOLEY to Miss DeFALCO asking if ED PRICHARD was still seeing CORCORAN. Answer: yes. ED FOLEY asks that DeFALCO call him at EM 7726 as soon as PRICHARD leaves because he (ED) does not want to talk to CORCORAN while PRICHARD is there. Agreed. 1:15 PM TOM CORCORAN to ED FOLEY. TOM said, "He (PRICHARD?) recommended you originally for President (Export-Import Bank), according to what he said. He also said that the Democratic recommendation was GASTON for a director- ship just to get rid of him." ED says, "That checks with HARRY WHITE." TOM says, "And then he recommended SUMNER PIKE and BART CRUMM as Republican members. Now he is seeing this fellow this afternoon. He is going over to see him right now and he is going to check--and sell you for the directorship as well as for the presidency." ED says, "The PIKE recom- mendation was good. You can reach me at Middleburh 60 over the week end." 1:18 PM SUMNER PIKE to TOM CORCORAN who says, "I want to talk 'oil' with you tomorrow at noon. Agreed.
