Washington, D. C. October 30, 1945 CO SUMMARY 9:40 AM TOM CORCORAN to LEO CROWLEY at F.D.I.C. LEO said he's going to make a date to see JIMMY (BYRNES?) after lunch and asked CORCORAN whether "he knows anything." CORCORAN said "he" knows a lot of things. LEO is at the hotel and CORCORAN will be right over to see him. 11:10 AM TOM CORCORAN to JOE PANUCH at State Department, 3035. JOE said he took (MAURICE) COLTON over to meet KILLIOM and latter will take him to see (TOM) CLARK Friday of this week. JOE said that KILLIOM's boy was being moved to Stockton, California, and that BROWNELL's boy was to be moved up near Brown University but he could not arrange for his discharge. JOE said he-needed more information on NUMEYA (phonetic). CORCORAN said he has more than 100 points but will get more information for JOE. 11:15 AM HUGH COX inquired as to when he should come in to see CORCORAN. Any time after 5 PM. 11:25 AM WORTH CLARK to TOM CORCORAN. CLARK said he had a talk with Mrs. DIAMOND (in Secretary of Agriculture ANDERSON's office) and she said ANDERSON is following through on the matter; they're still warm on it. She will report any activity on it to CLARK. CORCORAN said he wants a copy of the statute which set up the Import-Export Bank and copies of the Senate hearings (Committee reports) on it. CLARK will try to get them. CORCORAN is meeting CROWLEY this afternoon and he and CORCORAN will review them. CLARK said that Senator JOHN THOMAS, of Idaho, is dying and not expected to live through this day. CORCORAN is planning to attend TIM MOONEY's funeral. THOMAS' death will, as did MOONEY's, "change many things," they agree. 12:51 PM TOM CORCORAN to JOHN SNYDER's secretary saying she should tell SNYDER that nothing has "happened on DWIGHT PALMER's boy. I wondered if he could call General EAKER about it again. This is his friend DWIGHT PALMER from St. Louis and then he'll (SNYDER) let me know if he thinks there's anything more I can do about it." She will tell SNYDER. 2:27 PM TOM CORCORAN to ED WHEELER. WHEELER said he has a copy of his orders which require him to report Thursday but he believes he may be called tomorrow "to go through the routine." CORCORAN said "whosis" told him he was afraid of the internal situation and to try still more to get ED out of the Navy "might wreck it". CORCORAN said that "whosis", however, will do what he can. CORCORAN will again see FORRESTAL about the WHEELER discharge. 2:50 PM GAEL SULLIVAN to TOM CORCORAN. The following conversation took place: GS - I had lunch with BOB (HANNEGAN). TC - Yeah.
