Also very interesting is the fact that one of your
Senators from New York - who is close to the Republican
candidate for President - had the chance to take a position
on the housing bill.
Senator Ives voted against the bill.
So the Senate killed the Taft-Ellender-Wagner bill,
and the Congress passed a bill which does nothing about
low-cost public housing, nothing about slum clearance,
nothing about rural housing - nothing, in short,
that they said they would do for the people.
