1. Weather:
Considerable low cloudiness at 500 feet in southwest Korea, with scattered
showers. Elsewhere, generally fair Forecast: Considerable middle and
high cloudiness over South Korea, with scattered thunderstorms inland.
Extensive low cloudiness along the east coast. Visibility inland unrestricted
except in showers. (FECOM) (SECRET)
2. Sovit Soviet Participation:
Negative.
3. Enemy Situation:
a. In the Chinju area a limited attack against elements of the 5th U.S.
Infantry RCT is reported to be well in hand. By-passed enemy groups are
constantly harassing friendly lines of communications, but a small pocket
8 miles northwest of Masan was eliminated, and 2 small pockets 4 and 8 miles
west of Chirwon are under attack by friendly forces. A North Korean force
estimated at less than a battalion is about 2 miles northwest of Tundok.

b. The 4th North Korean Division continued to reinforce its bridgehead
in the 24th U.S. Infantry Division sector. A pilot reports an unknown number
of artillery pieces on the west side of the Naktong River believed ready to
cross. Corduroy approaches observed on both sides of the river 9 miles
west of Yongsan indicate either a ferrying site or possibly the location of an
underwater bridge. An enemy unit is reported digging in about 5 miles
west-southwest of Yongsan. Sporadic enemy mortar and small arms fire was
