    "ocrText": "\"secured Taechon, and continued the attack westward tc within 2 miles of Kusong.\nThe 21st U.S. Infantry RCT was moving west to attack through the 27th British\nCommonwealth Infantry Brigade, and the 19th U.S. Infantry RCT was enroute\nto cross the Chongchon and Taeryong Rivers. In the 1st ROK Division sector,\nthe 15th Regiment attacked northward with elements located 6 miles south-\nwest of Onjong, and elements of the 12th Regiment in the vicinity of Unsan. The\n1st U.S. Cavalry Division Command Post opened at Pyongyang. The 8th U.S.\nCavalry RCT arrived in the Division assembly area, preparatory to moving\nthrough elements of the 1st ROK Division and attacking northwest. Upon being\nreleased from the U.S. IX Corps, the 10th Philippine BCT is to be attached to\nthe U.S. I Corps and employed on lines of communication security missions.\n(FECOM) (SECRET)\nb. ROK II Corps: At 2000/29 (KT), the 7th Regiment of the 6th ROK\nDivision attacked in area 7 miles south of Kojang, and recaptured materiel lost\nearlier, During the night the enemy counterattacked the 7th Regiment with\nunknown results. On 30 October, the 7th Regiment continued the attack to the\nsouth. Elements of the 19th Regiment were attacking Onjong from the east,\nwhile the remainder of the Regiment was forced to withdraw from the area.\nPreliminary reports of the Division's losses include 2 artillery batteries,\nand all heavy equipment. The remainder of the Division is assembling in the\nvicinity of Hwasan, In the 8th ROK Division sector, the 10th Regiment (-)\nwas forced to withdraw from the Onjong area, and is now assembling in the\nvicinity of Hwasan. The Regiment lost all vehicles and 1 battery of artillery.\nElements of the 10th Regiment were enroute from Huichon to Hwasan, as the\nremainder of the 8th ROK Division was establishing a defensive line from about\n3 miles south of Hwasan to a point to the west, about 8 miles southeast of Unsan.\n(FECOM)(SECRET)\nC. U.S. X Corps: On 29 October, the 1st Cavalry Regiment of the ROK\nCapitol Division advanced to Songjin, and on 30 October moved 3 miles north of\nthe city. The 1st Regiment advanced to Hwangsuwon, as the 18th Regiment\napproached the vicinity of the Fusen Reservoir. In the 3d ROK Division sector,\nthe 23d Regiment was located at Hongwon and the 22d Regiment at Hamhung,\nas the 26th made slow progress toward the Chosin Reservoir. Elements of the\n1st U.S. Marine Division cleared the enemy from Kojo, as elements of the 7th\nU.S. Marine RCT moved to Hamhung. The 7th U.S. Infantry Division's 17th\nU.S. Infantry RCT began landing in the vicinity of Iwon at 1030/29 (KT). (FECOM)\n(SECRFT)\nd. U.S. Eighth Army: 2d U.S. Infantry Division Command Post opened\nat Pyongyang.
