Elements of the 10th Regiment were enroute from Huichon to Hwasan, as the remainder of the 8th ROK Division was establishing a defensive line from about 3 miles south of Hwasan to a point to the west, about 8 miles southeast of Unsan. In the 3d ROK Division sector, the 23d Regiment was located at Hongwon and the 22d Regiment at Hamhung, as the 26th made slow progress toward the Chosin Reservoir. Elements of the 1st U.S. Marine Division cleared the enemy from Kojo, as elements of the 7th U.S. Marine RCT moved to Hamhung. The 7th U.S. Infantry Division's 17th U.S. Infantry RCT began landing in the vicinity of Iwon at 1030/29 (KT). (FECOM) (SECRFT) d. U.S. Eighth Army: 2d U.S. Infantry Division Command Post opened at Pyongyang. The Division in Army Reserve continued its security mission.
