of 32 men, 6 horses, and 2 mortars each, and an ammunition platoon of 90 men
and 40 horses. The mortars are pack mounted. Each horse in the ammunition
platoon carries four boxes of ammunition of two rounds per box. The prisoners
belonged to the Chinese Nationalist Army from 1947 until April 1949 when the
unit was integrated into the CCF Army. In February 1950g the 370th Regiment
arrived Horunjan (Kokuryoko) on the Soviet-Manchuria border. In July, the
Regiment arrived at Tunghua for training and on the 14th of October departed
by train for Chian on the Yalu River. On or about 16 October, the Regiment
crossed the bridge at Manpojin on foot and moved at night on foot, through Kang-
gye, Changjin, and Toksil to the place of capture at Sudong. On 26 October,
two prisoners were captured from the second Battalion, 370th Regiment, and
on 29 October, 16 prisoners were captured from the ammunition platoon, mortar
company, 370th Regiment, 124th Division, 42₫ CCF Army. The prisoners
averaged from 28-30 years of age and had approximately two years of military
service. The prisoners had not eaten in three days, but had new cotton quilted
uniforms, winter headgear, and greenish canvas shoes with crepe rubber soles.
One prisoner spoke Pekin and north-Manchurian dialect of Chinese, One Chi-
nese captured near Unsan on 28 October gave his unit as the 2d Battalion, 56th
Unit, Chinese Peace Preservation Army in Korea. The 1st 2d, and 3d battalions
are composed of part of the personnel from the 118th, 119th, and 120th Divisions
of the 40th Army. The 40th Army and 3 divisions remained at Antung while
token forces from the 40th Army Headquarters and from each of its divisions
entered Korea on 20 October. Each battalion is composed of approximately
1,000 men. The total strength of 56 units is 5,000. The prisoner observed
5,000 men crossing with him over the railroad bridge to Sinuiju. The unit ar-
rived at Unsan on 25 October, No tanks or artillery were observed. Morale
was low because of repeated air attacks. The unit carried 14 days supply of
corn and 2 days supply of bread All information furnished by this prisoner is
