ROK II Corps: 3d ROK Division: The 18th and 22d ROK Regiments\nare enroute from Wonju to defense positions between the 8th and 9th ROK\nDivisions; the 23d ROK Regiment closed at Wonju. 9th ROK Division: The\n28th ROK Regiment is in the Sangnam-Kwandae area; the 29th ROK Regiment\nis in the Sorim-Changchon-Chojongdae area; and the 30th ROK Regiment is\nin the Yangyang-Kisamun area. The 1st, 2d and 3d ROK Security Battalions\nare securing Chosan, Chumunjin, Samchok and Chonjin. (FECOM)(SECRET)\ne. ROK III Corps: Command Post is at Yangpyong. 2d ROK Division:\nThe 17th and 32d ROK Regiments are on a line from Malmi to Yudong; the\n31st ROK Regiment is at Kapyong. 5th ROK Division: The 27th ROK Regiment\nis along a line 7 miles north of Chunchon; the 35th ROK Regiment is along a\nline 7 miles northwest of Chunchon; the 36th ROK Regiment is along a line\nto the left of the 35th; each regiment has about a four-mile front. 8th ROK\nDivision: The 16th ROK Regiment is on a 6 mile line running eastward from\na point 7 miles northeast of Chunchon; to the right, the 10th ROK Regiment\nis on line on a 3 mile front extending to the east; the 21st ROK Regiment is\nin division reserve at Chunchon. Elements of the 7th ROK Division are\nestablishing defense positions north of Chunchon. 11th ROK Division units\ncontinue patrolling rear areas. (FECOM) (SECRET)\nf. U.S. X Corps Continued enemy pressure and attacks by enemy\ngroups, up to battalion size, during 16 and 17 December caused troops of the\nU.S. X Corps to withdraw to the main line of resistance, a five mile are from\nHungnam including the Yonpo airfield. Defense of the area is being maintained\nby the 3d U.S. Infantry Division and elements of the 7th U.S. Infantry Division.\nProbing attacks by small enemy groups to the northwest and southwest of\nHungnam were made during 18 December. The Command Post of the 3d U.S.\nInfantry Division opened in the vicinity of Hungnam, while the U.S. X. Corps\nand 7th U.S. Infantry Division's Command Posts continued at Hungnam. ROK\nI Corps and the Capitol ROK Division are enroute to Samchok by water. The\n7th RCT (-) of the 3d U.S. Infantry Division is in defense position in the\nvicinity of the Yonpo airfield. Elements of the 15th U.S. RCT attached to the\n7th U.S. RCT repulsed an enemy attack 2 miles north of Yonpo. Other elements\nof the 15th U.S. RCT; preparing defense positions east of Hungnam, were re-\nleased to the 7th U.S. Infantry Division for operational control. The 65th U.S.\nRCT of the 3d U.S. Infantry Division is in position of the defense perimeter\nwest of Hungnam. The 32d U.S. RCT of the 7th U.S. Infantry Division repulsed\nan enemy attack 1-1/2 miles southeast of Hamhung, The 1st Battalion, 31st\nU.S. RCT is attached to the 32d U.S. RCT.
