Weather: On 14 February, the weather over Korea consisted of overcast low, middle, and high clouds with snow and rain south of 37N; overcast low clouds north of 37N becoming occasionally scattered. Forecast for 15 February: Broken low and middle clouds in south Korea with scattered low and middle clouds in north Korea becoming scattered low clouds throughout Korea, except for no change along the east coastal area. Visi- bility 7 miles reduced to 2 miles in coastal snow showers. Minimum battle area temperature will be 20 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. U.S. I Corps: Units continue to adjust positions on the left flank. The 12th ROK Regiment completed relief of elements of the Turkish Brigade southwest and east of Kimpo airfield; the Turkish Brigade now occupies a narrow front along the Han River east of Kimpo. The 35th U. S. Infantry RCT and the 15th ROK Regiment report no change. The 24th U. S. Infantry RCT, , minus, moved to an assembly area 7 miles southwest of Kyongan. Activity in the Seoul area consisted of minor engagements with small enemy groups and artillery duels. 3d U.S. Infantry Division: After hard fighting, elements of the 15th U.S. Infantry RCT drove an enemy com- pany from a hill 4 miles south of Seoul; by darkness on 13 February, the 15th RCT was in position from 3 miles south of Seoul to 6 miles west of Kwangju. The 65th U. S. Infantry RCT, minus, is in reserve 7 miles south- west of Kwangju, with elements 2 miles southeast of the Han 4 miles north- west of Kwangju. The 7th U.S. Infantry RCT seized high ground 1 mile east of Kwangju against stiff opposition from two enemy companies, and by dark held positions 4 miles norht of Kwangju and 1 mile north of Kwangju; a night attack was contained early on 14 February. The 29th U.K. Brigade repulsed an attack by an enemy company 3 miles east of Kwangju, then ad- vanced unopposed about 1 mile to 2 line from 2 miles east of Kwangju to 3 miles north of Kyongan; a counterattack in company strength was repulsed early 14 February.
