1. Weather:
Weather on 15 February consisted of scattered low and middle
clouds throughout Korea, becoming broken to overcast high clouds, bro-
ken middle clouds and scattered low clouds with occasional overcast along
the least coast. Forecast for 16 February: Broken to overcast middle and
high clouds, scattered low clouds occasionally broken along the least coast
becoming scattered low clouds throughout Korea. Light snow showers
during early morning. Visibility 3-5 miles in haze and snow. (FEAF)

2. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. U.S. I Corps: Front line units of the 1st ROK and the 25th
U.S. Infantry Divisions held their positions, with elements engaging small
enemy groups. The 27th U.S. Infantry RCT moved to 3 miles southeast
of Kyongan to relieve the 7th U.S. Cavalry RCT. The 24th U.S. Infantry
RCT closed in an assembly area near Kyongan, relieving the 8th U.S. Cav-
alry RCT. 3d U.S. Infantry Division: Elements of the 15th U.S. Infantry
RCT inflicted heavy casualties on enemy groups fleeing north 3 to 6 miles
southeast of Seoul, south of the Han River. The 7th U.S. Infantry RCT re-
captured a hill 4 miles north of Kwangju after being driven off earlier in
the day; two enemy companies counterattacked before dawn on 15 February,
but four hours later withdrew to the north. The 29th United Kingdom Bri-
gade came under enemy mortar fire while attacking in the area from 3
miles east of Kwangju to 2 miles north of Kyongan. The 3d Division re-
ported inflicting an estimated 3, 054 enemy casualties on 14 February.

b. U.S. IX Corps: 1st U.S. Cavalry Division: The 5th U.S.
Cavalry RCT is enroute to Chipyong to open the road and assist the 23d
U.S. Infantry RCT. The 7th U.S. Cavalry RCT continued to attack against
stubborn resistance 4 miles east of Kyongan. The Greek Battalion advanced
1,000 yards against moderate resistance 5 miles southeast of Kyongan. The
division inflicted an estimated 571 casualties on the enemy during the day.
24th U.S. Infantry Division: The 5th U.S. Infantry RCT, minus, remained
in reserve at Ichon. The 19th U.S. Infantry RCT secured positions from
