From 0700/19 (EST) to 0700/20 (EST) By From 2100/19 (Korea) to 2100/20 (Korea) 1. Weather: Korean weather on 20 February consisted of scattered clouds increasing to high broken clouds. Visibility 7 miles, reduced to 1-3 miles in early morning haze. Forecast for 21 February Overcast middle and high clouds in north Korea gradually covering the entire area. Low broken clouds with snow showers accompanied by overcast middle clouds, clearing to scattered clouds late in the period. Visibility 1-3 miles in snow and haze improving to 8 miles in clear areas. Minimum battle area temperature 25 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. U.S. I Corps: 1st ROK Division: Enemy activity was limi- ted to harassing fire from the north bank of the Han River. The 15th ROK Regiment occupied positions along the south bank between Yongdungpo and Seoul. The 35th U.S. Infantry RCT moved to positions a few miles south of Kimpo and Yongdungpo and assumed responsibility for the defense of the Kimpo peninsula. 3d U.S. Infantry Division: Units patrolled north to the Han River encountering small enemy groups. Friendly artillery and tank fire destroyed 5 of 7 enemy tanks on the southern edge of Seoul. 25th U.S. Infantry Division: The 24th and 27th U.S. Infantry RCT's attacked against light resistance, making gains of up to 5 miles to a line slightly south of the Han River north of Kyongan to 6 miles west of Yangpyong. The Turkish Brigade is preparing to move to rejoin the division. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. U.S. IX Corps: 24th U.S. Infantry Division: The 5th U.S. Infantry RCT gained 5 miles against light enemy resistance to the south bank of the Han 5 miles west of Yangpyong, and relieved the 19th U.S. In- fantry RCT in positions 5 miles southwest of Yangpyong.
