GROUND
a. U.S. I Corps: The enemy is strengthening defense positions
on the north bank of the Han River east of Seoul. Two enemy concentrations
south of the Han were observed 4 miles west and 5 miles northwest of
Kwangju. Patrols from the 3d U.S. Infantry Division, ranging northward
to the Han 5 miles northwest and 7 miles north of Kwangju, drew enemy
fire from the north bank. Friendly tanks firing across the Han destroyed
at least two enemy tanks 6 miles northeast of Kwangju. On the night of
24 February, an unidentified enemy aircraft bombed elements of the 65th
U.S. Infantry RCT 3 miles southwest of Kwangju. The 35th U.S. Infantry
RCT reverted to operational control of the 25th U.S. Infantry Division and
moved to Kumyangjang. The 29th United Kingdom Brigade was relieved
by the 24th U.S. Infantry RCT and moved to Suwon as corps reserve.

Infantry RCT holds a line from Yangpyong 7 miles to the west. The 21st
U.S. Infantry RCT is in positions from Yangpyong 4 miles to the east. The
19th U.S. Infantry RCT is in reserve 7 miles south of Yangpyong. The
enemy continued to deny entry of patrols into the area north of the Han
River 2 miles north and west of Yangpyong; air reported large numbers
of enemy troops entrenched in this area. A 21st RCT patrol seized posi-
