1. Weather:
Korean weather on 27 February consisted of overcast low clouds along
the east coast and south of 37N; overcast middle clouds extended over all of
Korea, becoming broken and scattered in the extreme north, Visibility was
5-8 miles, dropping to 1 mile in rain showers. Battle area temperatures
were between 30 and 43 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
Forecast: for 28 February: Broken, and occasionally overcast, low,
middle and high clouds over all Korea. Visibility will be 5-8 miles except
along the east coast where it will lower to 1-3 miles in rain showers. Battle
area temperatures will be between 28 and 44 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. U. I Corps: Elements of the 1st ROK Division disposed along
the Kimpo Peninsula received harassing fire from the western outskirts of
Seoul during the period. The 3d U.S. Infantry Division remained in previous-
ly reported positions and continued patrol activities. The 25th U. S. Infantry
Division also remained in position without significant enemy contact. (FECOM)

b. U.S. IX Corps: Unseasonable rains and thawing conditions have
resulted in the temporary severance of rail and highway traffic into the IX
and X Corps Zones. The 24th U.S. Infantry Division remained in positions
in the vicinity of Yangpyong with only minor enemy contact. Patrols of the
1st U.S. Cavalry Division made light to heavy enemy contact along a general
line 6 miles northeast of Chipyong. Friendly air attacked with excellent re-
sults an estimated three to five thousand troops located along the Yangpyong-
Hongchon road to the front of the 1st Cavalry Division. An estimated enemy
regiment was also observed dug in along this road. The enemy occupying the
high ground 7 miles east of Chipyong again successfully repulsed attacks by
