1. Weather:
Scattered to broken high and middle clouds in central and north
Korea with overcast middle and high clouds in extreme south. Visi-
bility 8 miles lowering to 3 to 5 miles in haze and smoke. Tempera-
tures 60 to 84 degrees F. Forecast: Broken to overcast high and middle
clouds with scattered low clouds. Visibility 3 to 5 miles in rain and fog.
Temperatures 60 to 85 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile probing attacks increased during the period, especially in
the area between Kumhwa and Sohwa, Agents reported 3500 enemy south-
west of Kumsong and 2000 bags of rice near the least bank of the Pukhan,
least of Kumsong. An enemy group ambushed an ROK patrol south of
Kosong, and a Capitol ROK Division regiment was forced to withdraw
slightly under enemy attack. A total of 3960 enemy vehicles were sighted,
of which 1865 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: UN forces continued aggressive patrolling against
numerous enemy groups during the period, reaching points 12 miles west
and 8 miles north of Chorwon. The 3d US Infantry Division (9th ROK Divi-
sion attached) completed relief of the 25th US Infantry Division in the I US
Corps sector, and the 24th US Infantry Division relieved the 7th US Infan-
try Division in the center of the IX US Corps zone. (FECOM) (SECRET)
