Weather: Broken high and middle clouds, clearing by end of period. Visi- bility good. Temperatures 62 to 82 degrees F. Forecast: Scattered low and high clouds. Visibility 10 miles. Temperatures 60 to 90 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Hostile activity continued moderate to heavy near Kumhwa and Sohwa. The enemy launched several platoon to battalion strength probing attacks in these sectors and stubbornly opposed UN advances. Air sighted 2000 enemy vehicles, of which 745 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: GROUND a. General: Friendly units repulsed all enemy probing attacks and continued aggressive patrolling, making slight advances near Kumhwa. In the western sectors, a friendly tank - infantry patrol reached a point 3 miles beyond the Chorwon - Ichon road, 10 miles northwest of Chorwon. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: 1st ROK Division patrols encountered platoon to battalion size enemy groups across the Imjin River east of Kaesong. Tank - infantry patrols of the 1st US Cavalry Division probed north 3 miles beyond the Chorwon a Ichon road and on both sides of the Imjin against groups up to company strength and intense small arms and automatic weapons fire. In the Kumhwa area, several platoon to battalion strength attacks were made upon positions of the 9th ROK Division (attached to the 3d US Infantry Divi- sion).
