1. Weather:
Multilayered overcast clouds at beginning of period, becoming
low broken clouds with isolated thunderstorm over mountains. Visi-
bility 1 mile increasing to 6 miles. Forecast: Low broken clouds
with thunderstorms, Visibility 6 miles. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile squad to battalion size groups probed friendly positions
near Chorwon, Kumhwa, south of Kumsong, and in the Kansong area
on the coast. Enemy minefields and mortar and artillery fire were
encountered north of Yanggu in the east-central sector. Dug-in
enemy battalions were observed 8 miles northwest of Yonchon and 4
miles north of Kumhwa. In the enemy order of battle, the 27th CCF
Army is accepted as having relieved the 20th CCF Army in the Kumsong
area, (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: Friendly units maintained patrol contact with
enemy groups across the front and repulsed numerous hostile probing
attacks. The 8th ROK Division relieved the 5th ROK Division on the
right flank of the X US Corps. (FECOM) (SECRET)
