1. Weather:
Broken to overcast low clouds in west and central sectors, scat-
tered clouds in other sectors. Visibility 6 to 8 miles. Temperature
75 to 89 degrees F. Forecast: Broken low clouds all areas except
east and southeast coasts. Scattered thunderstorms. Visibility good.
Temperatures 77 to 99 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Numerous enemy probing attacks - mostly squad to company size -
were made on friendly positions near Chorwon, Kumhwa, Sohwa and Kan-
song. An enemy regiment was reported in the area 8 miles northwest of
Yonchon, near the Imjin River. Enemy mortar and artillery fire con-
tinued to be received in the east-central sectors. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations, Situation:
GROUND:
a. General: Friendly units beat off hostile probing attacks
and continued aggressive patrolling across the front. Friendly artillery
in the east-central sector fired on enemy groups, gun positions, and
supply installations. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: 1st ROK Division patrols across the Imjin
River encountered small enemy groups near the 38th Parallel, east of
Kaesong. Elements of the 25th US Infantry Division repulsed three platoon-
size attacks northwest of Yanchon and two miles north of Chorwon, as
other units of the division adjusted positions and patrolled against light
resistance. In the Kumhwa area, 3rd US Infantry Division forces repulsed
two squad-size attacks and continued patrolling. (FECOM) (SECRET)
